Cape Cod adventure

So we went to Cape Cod today. It's supposed to be a "typical" New England destination with beaches, lighthouses, ice cream shops and stuff like that. I only heard about it yesterday and decided to go, weather permitting--- since it's been raining the whole week. Our friend Mike said that the forecast is supposed to be cloudy during the afternoon which gives us enough time in the morning to travel by car. Itinerary pala was to go biking 16 miles to the beach, visit ice cream shops along the way, and maybe have seafood dinner someplace...

When I woke up this morning at 8am, all I could see was rain rain rain. We persisted anyway and got to Cape Cod at around noon. We rented a couple of bikes since some of us didn't have our own and went on the bike trail towards the beach. OKAY... we biked for i-don't-know-how-long and we had rest stops naman but I did feel my legs getting tired already. I missed getting ice cream from the first stop kasi I was full pa and didn't really feel like it then. On the beach, we actually got to see a couple of seals swimming! I really couldn't make it out but I could see a dark head bobbing in the ocean... haha. I didn't want to walk nearer the water kasi ang lamig na and I didn't want to get wet. Took some pictures then headed towards our bikes and go back na... Stopped at two ice cream shops along the way and I did have some this time around! Great way to re-charge! haha. Grabe... my legs and my butt were starting to get sore and honestly, how would they not?? We friggin' biked a total of 30+ miles-- as in mga 16 miles going to the beach and another 16 going back. Complete with a bridge crossing, small tunnels, and downhill/ uphill moments. EXAG. I had fun though since we got to see a lot of nature-y things... but now, my body is really sore. On the upside-- we did see seals and had fun chatting while biking... and we had ice cream too--- since we would share the ice cream, i got to try new flavors like muddy sneakers (white choc, caramel swirl, choc peanut butter bits), death by chocolate (so good.) and others...

On another note, I have no concept of distance, so the thought of 30 miles initially might not have fazed me... but after having actually done it-- I know it's a really really really LONG distance to cover even while on a bike. Especially for those who are not athletic!

What a productive Sunday! Will probably take pain killers tonight and hope my body doesn't hate me tomorrow.
