Making Breastmilk

I want to keep a record on how to make breast milk efficiently. The best time would be now, because Maxine is 5mos old already and i still have a steady flow of milk (knock on wood) and i can still remember everything.

Tips:
1. Call/ Text the lactation therapist. Lita Nery +639185557565. Tell her when your due so she'll be informed. Call her the day you give birth, so she can massage you in the hospital.
2. Drink Natalac. Available in Mercury Drugstore. Fenugreek is available in Healthy Options.
3. Feed directly as much as you can. Its easier, no pump or bottles to clean.
4. Relax. It will come more easily if you stay calm.
5. Put hot compress on your breast before and during pumping.
6. Buy a good pump. Avent has been the pump of 9 out of 10 success stories i know.
7. Buy an even better pump if you can afford it. Medela is the best.
8. Pump as much as you can in the early stages. I used to pump every hr for 1 whole month. I would sleep for only 4hrs in the middle of the night.
9. When your milk is established already, usually by the 8th week. Pump every 3hrs.
10. Write everything down, time you pump and amount you got. So you can see if your mik is increasing or depleting.
11. Change positions when pumping. Try stopping after 10mins and then rest for 5 and start again.

Myths:
1. You have to feed directly.-- I fed directlyfor only a wk. I am still producing milk.
2. Not everyone has milk.-- Every woman who gives birth has milk. You just have to pump it all out. You reap what you sow. A pump that doesn't suit you will cause you not to have any milk.

Truths:
1. The size of your breast makes a difference in the amount of milk that you make.
2. Don't eat junkfood. The MSG lessens milk production.
3. Drink water. You will become thirsty if you breast feed so have a glass of water beside you.
